FROM WHEAT TO ARCADIA KNEADING BREAD

How wheat is made into flour, in our manual stone mills and the importance of grains before the sown wheat.

The bread production process, kneading and baking our own embroidered bread (Arcadian Art) in the wood-fired oven.

ARCADIA COOKING CLASSES

Our cooking class takes place in the wood oven area. We light the fire and after learning how to make a dough we start to knead it. Until our bread is made and puffed up, we walk around our vegetable gardens to gather vegetables and herbs for our meal but also to learn how our food grows. Get to know our trees, vegetables and herbs. By the time we get back, the oven is already hot and ready to bake our buns. We cut and prepare the vegetables for our food and after finishing it we place it in the wood oven. By the time the main course is cooked, we have already prepared the Greek salad and Tzatziki using the freshest vegetables.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOLS

The children will be guided to the external and internal areas of the Arkadiani farm, they will be introduced to the working methods of craft production and traditional products as well as the kitchen of a normal restaurant. We will walk together among the vegetable gardens observing dozens of vegetables and fruits and we will pay particular attention to wheat which is also the main ingredient of our production and our experiential activities.

They will then have experiential participation in activities that you have pre-selected such as:

  1. Making pasta. They will be fully explained the production method and raw materials from the primary sector to the final form on our plate. The children will participate in sifting the flour.
  2. Making bagels or sourdough bread. Next to the wood-fired ovens, they will mold their dough by making cookies and seeing how the embroidered bread is made. After they are placed in baking trays, we will bake them so that they can take them with them when they leave.
    The lit wood ovens will give the children the opportunity to get to know the way the older generations cooked.
  3. Nutrition and health program. They come into direct contact with nature by planting and caring for trees, vegetables and plants while learning about their characteristics and properties. They learn that taking care of a healthy diet is our personal responsibility with interactive games.
    The planted gardens will give the children the opportunity to get to know vegetables according to their season.
